Tonsils, Adnoids, & Easter....all gone!!

What a week..... Gary surprised us and came home Wednesday night. His Thurs morning classes were cancelled and he got out of his afternoon ones. It was a great surprise and he even got me this time.

Thursday night we met my mom, Mike & Sheila & Aunt Gloria in Sturgis. Mom took Miranda for 2 nights while Malaya had her tonsils out. We had to be to the surgery center at 6:00 on Friday. We met with the Dr., Nurses, anesthesiaologist (sp?) and finally it was time to take her back. From the time we left her to when they said she was done was 12 minutes. We got to meet with the Dr. and he said she did well. He said her adnoids were taking about almost the whole space of her nasal cavity and studies have been done on tonsils her size and about 85% of them were bacteria carriers (strept). So, I think it's a good thing we had it done. Although, the worse part was once she was out of recovery. We got to her room and they had just got her there and she was trying to say mommy and her throat was so dry. She kept wanting to drink and she ended up getting sick a couple times. The nurse finally asked us if we wanted her to give her some Reglin, which would help her stop throwing up. We said yes, she fell asleep within 2 minutes or so and slept for an hour. Once she woke up, she was much better. We got home around noon and she slept most of the day. Her nights have been rough. She's been waking up crying, saying her throat hurts, and just shaking. Last night was her best night. She isn't eating much, but that is coming around. They say it takes 10 days to fully be back to themselves and we're almost halfway there so that's encouraging!!

My parents came up on Saturday and brought Miranda back and spent some time with us so that was nice. Then Sunday we just stayed home for Easter. It was supposed to be Easter with my family, but there was no way we were going anywhere with Malaya. Then about 9:30 that morning Gary put a load of his laundry in and the washing machine was making an awful noise. Gary said there was oil everywhere under it and he thought it was one of the gears so he headed to Lowes and picked out a new washing machine for me. It's still a top load, but it's energy efficient. The barrel part is 5.1 in size and my old one was 3.3 so it's way bigger. I love it so far!!

Well, Gary is down to 8 days until he's done - no job yet. We're trying to get something figured out!!

Malaya picked out this toy for her and asked if she could have the same one for her sister...awww
