Grandma Lorraine Williamson 7-15-25 to 1-20-12

It has been a LONG 2 weeks. After a week in the hospital, Lorraine's dimentia kicked in and she wasn't able to swallow so she couldn't eat or drink anything. They moved her to the hospice house on January 13th. She passed away around 1:15am January 20th. Twila had sat by her side for almost 2 weeks and was with her when she passed.  We headed home on Sunday morning. The viewing was Monday from 5-7pm and then her funeral was Tuesday at 10.  We also purchased a new vehicle - a 2007 Chevy Suburban. With all the traveling back & forth and now with 2 dogs our car was not working!!  I'm going to post pictures of our family with Lorraine.

January 2012

I can't believe it's already 2 weeks into 2012. I've kind of held off on my blog, hoping I'd get some more pictures from Twila from Christmas, but I won't be getting them anytime soon. On Jan 4th, Gary's Grandma fell and broke her hip. The doctors recommended surgery so they went ahead with it and she came out well. A week after being in the hospital, Lorraine has stopped eating & drinking. Last Wednesday, the 11th, they had to move her to hospice. Twila, Glen & Bart have been with her continually. As of today, she's still doing okay. She's breathing well and sleeping soundly. They are just trying to keep her comfortable. We will be heading home for her funeral, but for now we are saying lots of prayers.

I sat Malaya down to tell her about Great-Grandma and I told her that we've been praying for God to heal Great-Grandma and she interupts me and says, is she better? I told her no that sometimes God doesn't answer our prayers how we want to. I said God has a plan for each one of us. Malaya asked what God's plan for Great-Grandma was. I told her that He wants her to go to Heaven to live with Him. She very quickly responds - that's a GREAT plan Mom!!  I said you understand that means she won't be living here anymore. She said, I know Mom, but she will be alive in Heaven with God!!  I said you are right. To have the Faith of a 5 year old!! I was very proud of her!

We took Paige to the Vet and she was 14.4 pounds at 8 weeks old.

Malaya also had her first sleep over on Friday. Hannah, her friend from school whose house she stayed at in early December, stayed the night. They had so much fun.

Other than Lorraine, it's been a very quiet couple of weeks. The weather has been beautiful so we've been outside whenever we can. Here are some pictures from January!

Naescher Family Christmas

Once we left Pizza Ranch we headed to Wall to spend New Years with Gary's family to celebrate Christmas. Gary's parents and 2 other families always take turns hosting New Years Eve. Well, this year it was at Gary's family so it was nice seeing the other family friends and visiting with them. Although, we went to bed early - we were all so tired. New Years Eve was 10 years since Gary asked me to marry him!!

Sunday we woke up and we had cake & a "mini" birthday party for Malaya. Then she opened her birthday presents. Then we started on Christmas presents. Chris, Lucy & Bart were there too. That evening we had our Christmas meal and played cards.

We headed out on Monday morning at 8am. We stopped and saw Gary's grandma at New Underwood. She, of course, didn't know who we were, but I think she enjoyed watching the girls. Then we went to Larry & Tera's house. Joe, Cassie & LD came over too. We had a nice visit with them. Then we had lunch with Aunt Bonnie at Olive Garden and then headed for home. We had to make 4 stops once we left Rapid and it was 7pm by the time we go to our house. We were SO glad to be home. It was a great 10 days, but definitely glad to be back and sleep in my own bed :)

Mortensen Family Christmas

We made it to Bonnie's Friday night and stayed with her. We had a nice visit & headed out Saturday morning. We had to go to the Pet Store to get a kennel and some things for our puppy. We got to the breeder's houe around noon. I think everyone was pretty excited to meet her. We decided to name her Paige. We got to meet Paige's mother, Darla. The breeder, Susan was very nice. She even let us bring Shylow in her house. Paige was so cute. The hard part was though when we left, Darla watched us leave. Needless to say, I was crying after that because it was so hard taking her puppy with her watching.

We got to my parents house and opened gifts. We had prime rib for dinner. We also went to a live nativity scene at the WildLife Sanctuary that night. It was pretty neat.  On Christmas Day we went to church and relaxed. On Monday Gary headed out and the girls & I went to Gillette.

We went to Holly's house first and the kiddos got to play and Randy also came over. Then we went to Roger & Shirley's for supper. We ended the night at Brandy & Nick's. The kids started playing as if there had been no time since they were last together. It's so neat watching how well they play together. We had our gift exchange and put together a gingerbread house. We headed home on Tuesday afternoon.

Tuesday we got home and when we were getting ready for bed, Malaya said she felt like she was going to throw up. I told her to get to the bathroom not thinking she really was, but boy did she surprise me. She was up every hour that night and threw up 10 times total. It was so hard to hold her hair & watch her get sick. :( She was better by morning but not herself until the next morning.

Wednesday I headed into Rapid because I had my apt with my pulmonologist. I went early so I could stop in at Black Hills Corp and see some of my old co-workers. It was nice to visit with them. I did a few errands and then had lunch with a friend. I got back pretty early because Malaya really didn't want me to go.

Thurday was a very fun day. Aunt Sheila took Malaya to get her first pedicure. They started first at Common Grounds (a coffee shop) and Malaya had an Italian Soda. It was just going to be the two of them, but then Miranda & I ended up going to. Miranda just got her toenails painted. That afternoon I also had a massage so it was a great pampering day :)

Friday the 3 of us along with Mom & Sheila decided to head back to Rapid. All of us but Sheila got an adjustment from Dr. Lisa. Then we went shopping & I found some great deals at Target. We all had lunch at Chili's and then headed home.

We woke up to snow on Saturday so we had to pack all our stuff in garage bags so it could go in the backend of dad's pickup. Then we met Gary at Pizza Ranch and we had lunch. Pizza Ranch is Malaya's favorite place to eat.
