Last week was very interesting. On Thursday, we had Wind.....not just wind.... 70mph wind! It blew up all the dust/dirt from our drought and created no visibility. They actually closed some roads including the interstate. It was like nothing we had ever seen before. Our neighbor called us around 5:30pm and said I have Paige. She said our fence had blown down and Paige was standing in our yard. We have no idea how long she had been out or anything, but thank goodness she was okay!!
Gary came home to take care of things and I went onto parent teacher conferences. Both of our girls are doing great! Miss Connie said that Miranda is doing really well. She knows the rules and just within the last week has started talking more. Mrs. Prante said that Malaya is also doing really well. She is at 27 for her reading and the goal is 10 so she's in the advanced reading class. I was super excited about that. When I asked her what we can work on, she said just keep reading. She also showed me some papers she's worked on and done really well. I sure hope it all keeps up, but I was VERY proud of my girls!
We spent Saturday cleaning up - the yard was a mess and I cleaned out about an inch of dirt out of every window sill!!! Just dirt & dust everywhere. A friend Gary went to line school, Cole, and his fiance, Holley came to stay the night. Cole had an interview at Midwest on Sunday. So, it was nice seeing them again!!
While hauling stuff to the dump, Gary found a turtle on the road and he brought it home for the girls. They have just love this little which Malaya named Pumpkin. They have tried to hand feed it, they fight over it, have taken it swimming in the wheel barrow and had it go down the side of that as a slide, it's been sleeping in a box at night. They get up every morning and check on it and then check on him before they go to bed. Gary told them though that they can't keep it for very long so that's going to be a sad day for those 2 girls when we let it go. Malaya does have show & tell today and we are bringing in Pumpkin. I talked to Mrs. Prante and she said that was just fine!!
