Wind & Pumpkin the Turtle

Last week was very interesting. On Thursday, we had Wind.....not just wind.... 70mph wind! It blew up all the dust/dirt from our drought and created no visibility. They actually closed some roads including the interstate. It was like nothing we had ever seen before.  Our neighbor called us around 5:30pm and said I have Paige.  She said our fence had blown down and Paige was standing in our yard. We have no idea how long she had been out or anything, but thank goodness she was okay!!

Gary came home to take care of things and I went onto parent teacher conferences. Both of our girls are doing great!  Miss Connie said that Miranda is doing really well. She knows the rules and just within the last week has started talking more. Mrs. Prante said that Malaya is also doing really well.  She is at  27 for her reading and the goal is 10 so she's in the advanced reading class. I was super excited about that.  When I asked her what we can work on, she said just keep reading. She also showed me some papers she's worked on and done really well.  I sure hope it all keeps up, but I was VERY proud of my girls!

We spent Saturday cleaning up - the yard was a mess and I cleaned out about an inch of dirt out of every window sill!!! Just dirt & dust everywhere. A friend Gary went to line school, Cole, and his fiance, Holley came to stay the night.  Cole had an interview at Midwest on Sunday. So, it was nice seeing them again!!

While hauling stuff to the dump, Gary found a turtle on the road and he brought it home for the girls. They have just love this little which Malaya named Pumpkin. They have tried to hand feed it, they fight over it, have taken it swimming in the wheel barrow and had it go down the side of that as a slide, it's been sleeping in a box at night. They get up every morning and check on it and then check on him before they go to bed. Gary told them though that they can't keep it for very long so that's going to be a sad day for those 2 girls when we let it go. Malaya does have show & tell today and we are bringing in Pumpkin. I talked to Mrs. Prante and she said that was just fine!!

Preschool Field Trip

I got to chaperone the preschool field trip on October 8. It is always a fun time.  Here are some pictures

Mom & Dad Visit

We had a fun weekend.....  my parents came on Friday to visit us. The girls didn't know they were coming so after I picked them up and got home they noticed their car in the driveway.  Miranda started jumping up & down in the car saying they beat us and Malaya goes what?  So, then she realized it too!!  It was fun to watch.

Saturday it snowed so we just hung out around the house.  Mom and the girls made me a birthday cake and I opened gifts.

Sunday we went to church and then came home and went to the pumpkin patch in Holyoke. It was muddy, but lots of fun!!  They had lots of kids things for the girls to do and then we went on a cow train ride that was really fun. Then we picked pumpkins out of their patch. That was my 1st time of ever picking pumpkins!!

Then mom and dad went home on Monday.

Aunt Bonnie, Delbert & Kathy Visit

Aunt Bonnie called us a couple weeks ago and said they were going to be in Denver the last weekend in Septemer for their nieces wedding and asked if we'd be home if they took a detour our way.  Well, they were here Monday (Oct 1) night. I picked them up in our vehicle and gave them the 10 min tour of our town. Then we headed to Madrid and went to The General Store. Then we came to our house and Gary grilled steaks for supper. We had great visit!!! It was so nice to see them!!!

Our First Husker Game!!

Gary's co worker had tickets to the husker game on Sept 22nd, so we drove to York Friday night and stayed in a hotel. Then we went on into Lincoln Saturday morning and got there around 9am. We found a parking garage and got a ground level by the door parking spot.  Then we walked around the stadium and downtown. I cannot describe to you the tailgating and all the people there are there. If you were wearing a shirt colored something other than red or black you stuck out like a sore thumb!!!  The game was great because we were on the South end about 30 rows up and the Huskers won. It was a blow out!!!! 73 to 7 and most of the scoring took place on the South end where we were. The girls liked it and enjoyed the cheerleaders and dance team.  The band was also amazing!!! Very fun time!!! Can't wait to go again!!
