Miranda's Baptismal Day

April 26, 2009 was a very special day for our family. Miranda Rae became a child of God as she was baptized today. Her Godparents are Sheila Mortensen and Sanden and Elaine Simons. When we woke up that morning we weren't sure if her Godparents were going to make it. We had seen on the news the night before that snow was in the forecast, and we woke up to 3 inches of snow and it was still snowing. It seemed only fitting that it would snow this day because I had made it through 3 blizzards without going into labor, so we couldn't go without snow on her baptismal day. Pastor Chris Lockie at Zion Lutheran Church baptized her. After the service we had everyone over to our house for sloppy joes, chips, salads, and strawberry shortcake. Miranda received many nice gifts that will help remind her of this day.

Another Busy Week

As usual, another week has flown by. Last Friday Grandma Audrey came to visit and grandma and Malaya played playdough most of the day. On Saturday, Gary spent most of the day with his cousins and some friends for Darin's bachelor party so I decided to venture to my parents house with the girls. It was pretty fun. We went to the fire departments' pancake dinner fundraiser and Malaya got to meet Catchup the Clown (Joel Stephens). At first Malaya cried when she saw him, but then he made her animals out of balloons, and then she liked him. Grandma & Papa have a book that teaches you to call 911 and there's a fireman in the book and Malaya now calls him Catchup! I ended up leaving Malaya at their house.

On Sunday, Grandma & Papa were moving some things to Spearfish so they took Malaya with them. One of the items was our old Rocking Horse. At first Malaya didn't know what to think, but once she got on the horse, she loved it. Aunt Sheila also took her to the park, but there weren't any ducks - just fish.

I decided to venture out on Monday to the park with both girls. It was pretty fun. We didn't stay too long, but Malaya did get to swing. Then on Tuesday Gary had to work in Spearfish and he left the house early so Malaya stayed with me instead of going to Michele's. So, we ventured back to the park again. We met a mommy there with her 2 year old son and when she found out I had a 3 week old, she told me I was pretty brave to venture out. It was a very long day for me because Gary was gone for 12 hours - needless to say, I was very happy to see him home.

Today Malaya got tubes put back in her ears. We did not want to have to put them back in, but she's had 5 ear infections in the past 6 months, so the Dr. said it was time. We had to be there at 6:00am and then her surgery was supposed to be at 7:10. Believe it or not, we all made it to the surgery center by 6:00 and the Dr. came in about 7:00 to see if we had any questions and then a couple minutes later the nurse came in and said that Dr. Burgess had an emergency and was going to be running late. Thankfully, he was back within 40 minutes and at 7:45 they took her back. 1o minutes later the Dr. came to tell us everything had went well. I was worried she would cry when they took her from us, but they were smart, they told her she would get to pick out a toy and that was all it took. They brought her to us around 8:30 and she came out of it really good. By the time we left, you wouldn't even know she had had anything done. She did much better this time than when we had them done in Gillette when she was 1.

It is beautiful out today so we told Malaya after her nap we would take her to the park. Gary is home today so the adventure out should be much easier today!!

My Very First Blog

Well, I'm trying something I thought I'd never do......I'm going to attempt to keep a blog updated. I was not thrilled about trying to do this, but someone talked me into it - (my sister). I love scrapbooking, but never seem to have the time to scrap, so I thought I'd attempt to use this blog as my scrapbook. Then I could print each blog and keep it in a binder for the girls.

Gary went back to work this week, so that has been an adjustment. I was home on Monday with both girls and Shylow and it was definitely challenging. We are sending Malaya to Michele's on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays to give me a break and keep her on somewhat of a schedule. Plus, she loves to play with her friends there!!

On Tuesday it was beautiful out, so I got to take Miranda on her first walk and I even took Shylow with us. I can't believe Miranda is now 2 weeks old. I don't know where the time goes. I have 12 weeks of maternity leave, and I'm already down to 10!!

Well, I guess that's it for now. I will do my best to keep this updated, but no promises :) But, hey, if I get into this blog, maybe someday I'll get Facebook!!
